Allama Iqbal
Iqbal is an important member of the muslim leader who preach
muslim separatism of the collapse of the muslim rule in subcontinent. He was
one of the greatest urdu and Persian poets after ghalib. He also wrote
treatises attemping for construct a philosophy out of Islamic scriptures and
was an intellectual perse.
He was born on 9th Nov 1877 at sailkot. His
grandfather sheikh Muhammad rafiq. His parents sheikh nor and imam bibi. His
brother ata Muhammad . iqbal’s initial
education was in tradition school. One of his teacher was sayyid mir Hassan, the
famous oriental scholar. He learn Urdu, Arabic and Persian them.
He join the sailkot mission school to pass matriculation the
he join gov college Lahore for BA . he get master’s degree in philosophy in
1899.
Iqbal attend the second and third round table conference in
1931 and 1932.
He remained as the president of provincial Muslim league of
Punjab though he could not take active part in its activities. He regularly
corresponded with MA jinah expressing his views about the political development
in subcontinent. In a letter to Jinnah in 1937 he wrote “The construction of a
polity on Indian national lines. If it means the displacement of the Islamic
principle of solidarity is simply unthinkable to a Muslim.
He died in Lahore of 21 April 1938 at the age of sixty one
and was buried in the background of
Badshahi mosque built bu Aurangzeb.
