Gates has one elder sister, Kristi and one younger sister, Libby. He was the 4th of his name in his family, but was known as William Gates 3 or "Trey" He is third william in his family.

When he was in the eighth class, the Mothers Club at the school used proceeds from Lakeside School's to sale a Teletype Model 33 ASR terminal ] Gates has an interest in programming the GE system in BASIC, and was excused from math classes to extend his interest. He wrote his first computer program named as tic-tac-toe. which allow him to play games on the computer. He has always interest in machine language there for he start to program in computer especially in Basic.
